These unique flowers resemble the exotic birds of paradise, found in Papua New Guinea. They're also known as crane flowers because they look similar to the crowned crane bird. There are five species of Bird of Paradise flower, all originating from southern Africa, however they have naturalised around the world from New Zealand to America.
