New Limited Edition Art Print Collection
Established New Zealand artist Cathy Hansby has released three striking new limited edition art prints, celebrating some of Aotearoa’s most treasured native and endemic bird species.
Capturing these species, in bold, modern images, created by hand drawing using a digital canvas.
The new collection includes three original works titled Opposites Attract, Coastal Companions, and Wise Tales. Each released in a limited edition of just 25 prints per size. Available in A3, A2 and A1 formats, each print can be purchased framed or unframed.
The artwork reflects Cathy’s ongoing commitment to conservation. Ten percent of all online sales are donated back to nature through partnerships with Forest & Bird and Auckland Zoo’s Conservation Fund.
Opposites Attract
Opposite in character and appearance, living side by side while exploring our native forest.
A bold, modern image featuring New Zealand's endemic birds, the Tui and Kererū.
Amongst the forest canopy, Tui sing their complex and distinctive songs, while feeding on the native flowers of Kōwhai and Harakeke.
Kererū feast on the large berries of native Puriri, Karaka and Miro trees. They are one of the last remaining birds able to swallow and distribute these large seeds around the forest.
Rendered in Cathy’s signature style, the artwork captures the beauty of contrast and coexistence within the native environment.
“Coastal Companions”
Working together, foraging the wetlands & coastline.
The native White Heron (Kōtuku) and Royal Spoonbill (Kōtuku Ngutupapa) co-exist at New Zealand's only white heron nesting site in Waitangiroto, on the West Coast of the South Island.
Both birds have emigrated to New Zealand from Australia and travel widely around the country. They often forage together, sifting shallow waters for crustaceans and small fish. These large birds are naturally uncommon, often seen roosting in trees at coastal and wetland areas throughout NZ.
“Wise Tales”
Sharing secrets of the forest, two icons of the New Zealand forest.
Wise Tales brings together two beloved inhabitants of New Zealand’s forests, the Morepork (Ruru) and the Fantail (Pīwakawaka).
The adorable Morepork (Ruru) is a nocturnal owl, native to New Zealand, and known as the guardian of the forest The endemic Fantail (Pīwakawaka) is a busy forest bird, often seen flitting between trees or following your footsteps to catch escaping insects from the leaf litter. Together they’re the eyes and ears of the forest.
With only 25 editions available in each size, the collection offers collectors and nature enthusiasts a rare opportunity to acquire meaningful and unique artwork while supporting conservation initiatives across Aotearoa.
