In 2023 I had the amazing opportunity to develop some penguin designs for SEA LIFE Kelly Tarlton's Aquarium in Auckland, New Zealand.
The lovely team of penguin keepers invited me to the penguin enclosure, and the resident Gentoo and King penguins welcomed me into their icy home for the most memorable experience.
Watching them interacting, their curiosity at finding me there, and watching them swim and raise their young was so special. The Gentoo are delightfully curious and fun to be around.
The King’s are amazing, so elegant and beautiful.
New Zealand is the penguin capital of the world, with more penguin species breeding here than anywhere else in the world. These penguins are found in New Zealand's sub-antarctic islands.
I created 6 designs featuring these two species, and developed a range of art prints, gifts and homewares for the Kelly Tarlton's gift shop.
