The White Heron, Kotuku is a symbol of rarity in New Zealand. Maori considered it so rare and beautiful as to be seen once in a lifetime, known as ‘The bird of asingle flight‛. It‛s believed they flew to New Zealand onthe winds from Australia hundreds of years ago.
